Updated: 24th March
We are currently planning training as we come out of lockdown. Below is the Government guidelines and our plans for each step. Note that the government guidelines may change but I will contue to review them and keep this page as up to date as I can.
Step 1
From 29 March, Organised outdoor sports for both adults and children will also be able to resume with any numbers, where this takes place under NGB guidance.
We will continue with the current online Zoom classes on Sundays and Thursdays.
We are holding a weekly adult and junior outdoor class on Sunday mornings from 10am at Medbourne Pavilion, Shenley Wood. This will be weather permitting but I will try to hold 1 class per week.
Step 2
Step 2 will begin no earlier than 12 April: leisure centres and community centre for use individually or with household groups. Indoor sporting activities for children will be able to take place.
Kids and junior classes in the hall with social distancing and other required COVID measures.
Adult classes to continue outdoors.
Step 3
Step 3 will start from 17 May at the earliest, at which point organised adult indoor group sports and exercise classes will be able to resume. This stage will also see the return of some spectators at sporting events.
All classes to return to the dojo with social distancing and other required COVID measures (details TBC).
With regards to contact karate, currently no National Governing Body has submitted an application for contact karate to take place, this means that we are only allowed to resume classes at “Phase 0” without contact and maintaining social distancing.
“Until your contact combat sport or martial art has been approved, activity above Phase 0 (non-contact, socially distanced activity) of the contact combat sport framework cannot take place. Your website and communications to your membership, sport providers, instructors and coaches should clearly set out that people should not participate in any contact activity. “
Phase 0: non-contact socially distanced activity
“At phase 0, contact combat sports may resume non-contact training. This means that they should only train individually and there should be no activity with others, including with equipment (such as pad work). Clubs, providers and participants must adhere to legal gathering limits, social distancing guidelines and venue requirements, as set out in government guidelines.“
